Keenia Williams freeway hero

For the second time in two years, a California woman is being hailed as a hero after she pulled a woman from an overturned car on I-80 in Pinole Wednesday, KTVU-TV reports.

Keenia Williams (pictured), 24, was driving home to Vallejo on Interstate 80 around 8:30 a.m. when she was forced to slam her brakes. Two cars had just crashed in from of her, one of which was driven by a woman.

“The truck hit her,” Williams, a single mother, said. “She started to put her brakes on, but then a car hit her and sent her backwards. Her car then hit the wall and overturned.”

But instead of driving around the accident, she left her car and ran towards the two vehicles. “The woman, she was bleeding a lot from her head and she was stuck,” Williams remembered.

She was able to pull the female victim out of the car after she successful loosened her seat belt. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) soon arrived on the scene and thanked Williams for her bravery.

Watch new report here:

“The officer was like, ‘What made you do that?’ I’m like, ‘Well, it’s not the first time that I saved somebody,’”Williams said.

It wasn’t. KTVU-TV has more on her first act of bravery:

It was back on October 19, 2011, when Williams was driving with her young daughter on Highway 101 in San Francisco when she pulled up to an accident.  A big rig had crashed and burst into flames.

At that accident, Williams got out of her car, jumped over a stream of leaking fuel and pulled the unconscious big-rig driver to safety.

Williams said faith played a role back in 2011 and in the recent crash.

“That’s my God, my Father up there,” said Williams. “He’s telling me this must be my calling.”

Williams was honored by both the city of San Francisco and CHP after her life-saving action on Highway 101 in 2011. There was no word so far if she’d be similarly honored in the wake of her latest heroics.

As far as we’re concerned, this shouldn’t even be a question. Keenia Williams, who describes herself as a Christian woman and attends church in San Francisco and  Vallejo, is a prime example of what a good American is and does. You are national role model, Keenia. Thank you for being a wonderful human being.
