Wow! That sure didn’t take long! One week Jason Kidd retires, the next he talks about possibly wanting to coach, and now suddenly according to ESPN.com, he is the new coach of the Brooklyn Nets?! He works quickly!

Congratulations to Coach Kidd! This is great for him, and he’s a natural. He has always been known for allowing others to shine while he was on the court. We are sure this will just be more of the same!

Said Kidd about his new gig,

“This is a tremendous opportunity to be named head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, and it’s a role I have been studying for over the course of my playing days. Championship teams are built on being prepared, playing unselfishly and being held accountable, and that’s how I expect to coach this basketball team. I am truly excited about this next phase of my basketball career.”

Said owner Mikhail Prokhorov of  The Nets,

“Jason Kidd has a long and legendary history with the Nets and with the city of New York. He has the fire in the belly we need, and has achieved as a player everything the Brooklyn Nets are striving to achieve. We believe he will lead us there. Welcome home, Jason.”

And the best part is, he doesn’t even have to move, as he is now working for the other New York City team! Retire from The Knicks then go coach for The Nets! Why not? Congratulations again to Coach Kidd, it couldn’t happen for a nicer player!
