From NEWS 92 FM – A new area code is in the future for the Bayou City.
Thanks to growth, 346 area code will be added July 1, 2014.
This will add to the existing area codes 713, 281 and 832 in Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Brazoria, Galveston, Waller, Austin, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Liberty and Chambers counties. It is projected that the three existing area codes will run out of numbers in September 2014.
The 346 area code won’t be assigned until July 1, 2014.
