On Sunday, November 11, 2012, the City of Houston will show support for our Armed Forces and celebrate the annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes” Veterans Day Celebration. Mayor Annise D. Parker has again partnered with the City’s Office of Veterans’ Affairs to host the third annual AT&T Veterans Job Fair and the second Walgreens Veterans Health Fair.

The annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes” festivities will kick off on the steps of City Hall at 10 a.m. with the third annual AT&T Veterans Job Fair and second annual Walgreens Veterans Health Fair, which is open until 2 p.m.  A moment of silence will be observed at 11 a.m., followed by the 11th hour ceremony in memory of the WWI signing of the Armistice. The American Heroes parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Lamar and Bagby, proceeding north on Smith, east on Walker, south on Louisiana and ending at Dallas.

Aunt Bea’s Restaurant on 5422 North Freeway in Houston, will be welcoming veterans to enjoy a discounted meal on Sunday, November 11, in honor of their service. Active and veteran military will receive a 50% off with proof of service.

 Also, patrons are encouraged to bring canned goods that will be contributed to the Houston Food Bank as the organization readies for the holidays. Anyone who brings a canned good on Sunday will receive a free side with the purchase of a meal. The restaurant wants to acknowledge the service of our military by paying it forward and supporting Houston-area families. Click here for more info.

At Golden Coral,  Veterans Day free meals  go to any veteran who has served in the United States military or is a current active duty service member. All Golden Corral locations will be participating On Monday, November 12, 2012 from 4 PM to 9 PM. No identification is required to get your free Veterans day meal.
