(New York, NY)  —  Drew Barrymore is apparently getting paid a lot more than her films are returning at the movie box office.  Barrymore tops a new “Forbes” magazine list of Hollywood’s “Most Overpaid Actors.”  Citing low-earning Barrymore films such as 2010’s “Going The Distance” and the 2009 films “Everybody’s Fine” and “Whip It,” the magazine said Barrymore returns just 40 cents for every dollar movie studios spend for her participation in a film.  Eddie Murphy has also been marked as “overpaid” on the “Forbes” list but, according to editors, compared to Barrymore, the “Tower Heist” star is a “financial superstar.”  Due to a number of recent box office bombs, Murphy’s films have seen, on average, returns of two-dollars-and-70-cents for every dollar he was paid.  Will Ferrell is third on the list.  His films have averaged about three-dollars-and-50 cents in returns for every dollar he’s paid.

“Forbes” compiled its list of Hollywood’s most overpaid by weighing the compensation received by top-earning actors from their last three films against the operating income of those films.  Other actors who made the cut for not always cutting it at the box office include Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman, Denzel Washington and Reese Witherspoon.
