On a wish list of companies they would most like to work for, Google Inc. is the top choice for up and coming professionals.  According to a new survey from consulting firm Universum, about one in four young people chose the popular Internet search engine as their ideal employer.  Apple Inc. was second on the list, followed by The Walt Disney Company, the U.S. Department of State and Amazon.  Kortney Kutsop, an Employer Branding Specialist for Universum, says “Companies that have appealing consumer brands generally also succeed in being perceived as attractive employers.”  She says, “People nowadays love to work for companies that produce their favorite products and services.”  Universum surveyed more than ten-thousand young professionals around the country for its first list of the Top Ideal Employers for Young Professionals.

The rankings come during what’s being called a period of transition for many young professionals, 25 percent of whom are interested in changing employers within six months, according to Universum.  The survey also shows that 50 percent have applied for a new job either externally or internally over the past year.  Kutsop says the frequency of job-hopping among young professionals is proof of the dynamism of today’s job market and the need for employers to be proactive in communicating their brand in order to recruit employees.
