HOUSTON – An electrical fire at the Dowling Middle School of Fine Arts caused classes to be canceled Monday. The dismissal of students caused a traffic tie-up outside the campus as parents rushed to pick up their children and school buses arrived to take students home early.

Students were to be dismissed from the Dowling campus by 10:30 a.m. or transferred to nearby Grissom Elementary School until parents could arrive to pick them up, according to a statement issued Monday by the Houston Independent School District.
