Last night while Charlie Sheen was putting on quite a display of crazy on CNN, ?uestlove announced via Twitter the rather eclectic line-up for the 4th Annual Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. This year the Philadelphia hip-hop heroes will share the stage with The Grammy’s pick for Best New Artist, Esperanza Spalding, Wiz Khalifa, and Mr. Illmatic himself, Nasir “Nas” Jones.
Spalding, who is making her second appearance at the picnic, and Nas will be backed by The Roots during their sets.
Rounding out the bill will be Yelawolf, XXL freshman pick Mac Miller, Swedish electro-soul outfit Little Dragon, indie psych rock band Nicos Gun, Philly based experimental rock band Man Man, the recently reunited Washington DC indie rock band The Dismemberment Plan, the uncategorizably weird Ariel Pink, electro soul singer (and ?uestlove’s sister) Donn T, and DJ J Period who will be doing his famed “live mixtape” with Black Thought of The Roots.
