The Jack Yates Lions have won 56 consecutive games and are looking to claim back-to-back Class 4A State Championships. The Lions (32-0) meet The Colony (30-8) in the 4A semifinals on Thursday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Should they win, the Lions would meet Lancaster or Austin Lake Travis in Saturday’s state final. That’s a daunting task.

But, the talk about town is this Yates team good enough to beat the Willowridge Eagles teams of 2000 and 2001, led by T.J. Ford and Daniel Ewing that won 62 games in a row and claimed a pair of Texas Class 5A state titles.
