“Avatar” continues its reign at the North American box office. The James Cameron epic was number one for the sixth straight week, bringing in 36-million dollars over the weekend. To date, 20th Century Fox reports that “Avatar” has earned 552-point-eight-million-dollars, falling slightly short of the record set by Cameron’s other notable epic, “Titanic,” which took in 600-point-eight-million dollars in North American box office. At second this week was the debut of the apocalyptic horror film “Legion” with 18-point-two-million, followed by the Denzel Washington starrer “The Book of Eli” in third with 17-million. The debut of “The Tooth Fairy” starring Dwayne Johnson and Julie Andrews was fourth, followed by “The Lovely Bones,” Peter Jackson’s adaption of the Alice Sebold novel, in fifth.

Here is the list of the top ten draws at the North American box office for the three-day weekend beginning January 22nd.
