When crews arrived, they said one of the apartment buildings was engulfed in heavy fire.

Residents said the fire spread quickly.

“We was in there cooking and my husband was on the computer.  We came outside and we just seen smoke.  And just in the matter of minutes the whole thing started up in flames,” one resident said.

In all, about 60 firefighters responded to the blaze.

They pulled one fire victim from an upstairs unit, but firefighters said everyone else managed to escape the flames on their own.

There were no injuries.
