A homeless man stole some items from a Richmond house before escaping on a bicycle, police said Monday.

Richmond police said the owner of a home in the 800 block of Austin Street spotted a man leaving his house with his property on Saturday shortly before noon, so he followed him to a nearby parking lot.

Police were called and said they found the suspect, Larry Bruce Dressendorfer, 53, hiding behind a tree.

Officers said they found some of the victim’s property on Dressendorfer and his bike.

Dressendorfer, who police said is homeless, was charged with burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony.

He was taken to the Fort Bend County Jail.
