HOUSTON – Thursday is expected to be a scorcher, prompting another heat advisory to be in effect for the Houston area, 11 News Meteorologist David Paul said.

“The second advisory may be extended through the weekend because we just don’t see any big change in the pattern,” said Paul. “Drink plenty of water, take breaks inside the air conditioning and take care of the children and elderly.”

Thursday morning began at a warm 81 degrees with an expected high of 97 degrees. The heat index will run between 104 and 110 degrees today, making outside conditions extremely dangerous.

Like-temperatures are expected to remain through the weekend, with a 20-percent chance of showers beginning Friday.

Paul said if we do see any showers, they could turn into some nasty thunderstorms when mixed with the high heat.
