NEW ON DVD:

Cop Out

Bruce Willis and “30 Rock’s” Tracy Morgan co-star in the buddy comedy, “Cop Out.”  Willis plays Jimmy Monroe, a world-weary NYPD cop with one valuable possession — a prized baseball card — to his name.  Morgan is Paul Hodges, Jimmy’s overzealous partner.  The action begins when Jimmy’s baseball card is stolen just as he plans to sell it and finance his daughter’s wedding.  The two cops then set out to find the card, getting pulled into a drug conspiracy in the process.  “Clerks” filmmaker Kevin Smith directs from a script by Mark and Rob Cullen.  Seann William Scott, Rashida Jones, Jason Lee, and Kevin Pollak also star.

Also available as Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack featuring “Maximum Comedy Mode” and a digital copy. (New Line).

The Losers

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and “Avatar” star Zoe Saldana star in the action film “The Losers.”  The film depicts a group of US agents undercover in Bolivia.  The “Losers” are united in their desire to exact revenge against “Max,” a dangerous enemy that two-timed them all.  Saldana plays Aisha, an operative who joins forces with the group.  Chris Evans, Columbus Short, and Idris Elba also star.  Jason Patric appears as “Max.” Sylvain White directs.

Also available on Blu-Ray Disc. (Warner).

The Runaways

The rock biopic “The Runaways” is making its way to video today.  The indie film traces the origins of the 1970s girl band The Runaways.  Kristen Stewart of “Twilight Saga” fame is rocker Joan Jett in the film.  Dakota Fanning plays the band’s lead singer, Cherie Currie.  Scout Taylor-Compton, Michael Shannon, and Stella Maeve also star.  Jett served as an executive producer on the film, which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in January.

Extras include commentary by Jett, Stewart, and Fanning, two featurettes: “Plugged In: Making the Film” and “The Runaways.” The film is also available on Blu-Ray Disc, which adds movieIQ+sync featuring “The Runaways” play list, and more. (Sony).

Mother

The acclaimed South Korean film “Mother” is new to video.  The crime drama depicts a single mother working tirelessly to care for her intellectually-disabled adult son.  When the young man is unexpectedly charged with the murder of a young girl after a shoddy investigation, his mother conducts her own search into the girl’s death, determined to clear her son’s name.  The film features English subtitles.  Hye-ja Kim, Bin Won, and Ku Jin star.

Also available on Blu-Ray Disc. (Magnolia Home Entertainment).

Jersey Shore: Season One

Join Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi, and the rest of the self-described “guidos” and “guidettes” on MTV’s “Jersey Shore.”  Season one of the hit reality show is now on video.  Set in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, the series captures the drama, partying, and even the romance of eight house mates enjoying summer on the shore.  This three-disc set features all eleven episodes from the 2009-2010 season.

Extras include deleted scenes, a reunion special, commentary by “The Situation,” “Snooki” and their “Jersey Shore” cast mate “Pauly D,” a “Jersey Shore” makeover with actor Michael Cera, and more. (MTV/Paramount)

Being Human: Season One

The UK TV series about three roommates in their twenties — a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost — is now on video.  “Being Human” stars Aidan Turner, Russell Tovey, and Lenora Chriclow.  An American version of the show is currently in production for the Syfy network.

Extras include video diaries, deleted scenes, character profiles, and making-of featurettes. Also available on Blu-ray Disc. (BBC/Warner).

Martha Speaks: Martha Goes To School

The children’s developmental series “Martha” continues with “Martha Speaks: Martha Goes To School.”  The family DVD features eight episodes with Martha, the family dog, as she presents new words for a child’s vocabulary.
