HOUSTON — With frigid temperatures and potentially dangerous traveling conditions expected to hit Houston by Tuesday, several Houston-area school districts have made the decision to close as a precaution. This may include the possibility of freezing rain, snow and ice on the roads, making travel hazardous for most of the day.

All schools will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The following school closures have been announced for Tuesday, Jan. 21:

  • Barbers Hill ISD
  • Bay City ISD
  • Cleveland ISD
  • Matagorda ISD
  • Palacios ISD
  • Tarkington ISD
  • Van Vleck ISD

Some of the districts are still considering closing potentially on Wednesday and Thursday, depending on the conditions.
