Elon Musk: Twitter and SpaceX Headquarters are Moving To Texas

Elon Musk says he’s moving two more of his companies out of California and into The Lone Star State. Twitter (now known as X) and SpaceX, which manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft, are headed to Austin. The move comes in the wake of a new California law Musk says negatively impacts children and families of the LGBT+ community.
“This is the final straw. Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.” he said in an online post. “X HQ will move to Austin.”
The law he’s referring to bans school districts from requiring that parents be notified if their child changes their gender identity, which, some argue will protect kids in abusive households, but those against it say it violates parents’ rights.
Last March, news broke that Musk was building a town in Texas for his Employee’s to work in live in.
Reportedly, Musk intends to provide workers with rental homes priced well below the local market average. One advertisement purportedly stated that a two- or three-bedroom property would cost $800 per month, compared to $2,200 per month in nearby Bastrop, Texas. The municipality also has plans for a Montessori school.
The minimum population requirement for incorporation in Texas is 201 residents. The Journal’s article describes plans for the construction of 110 additional homes in the Snailbrook neighborhood.
Should Musk construct his own city, he will not be the only billionaire in Texas to own a municipality. Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, purchased Mustang, Texas for an undisclosed sum in 2021.
