(Deerfield Beach, FL)  —  An activist blogger in Florida recently decided to make his own adjustment to a Deerfield Beach nativity scene using a symbol of one of the world’s newer holidays.  According to the “Sun Sentinel,” Chaz Stevens spiced up the Christmas scene last week with a Festivus Pole.  The decoration is part of the December 23rd atheist holiday made famous by a 1997 episode of “Seinfeld.”  Stevens made his eight-foot-high Festivus Pole out of 23 Pabst Blue Ribbon beer cans, but adds that he had the city’s permission to redecorate.  He says he’s actually been trying to have the nativity removed for the past five years.  But after those attempts all proved unsuccessful, he decided to ask for his own space to express a different set of beliefs.
