Tobe From The SWAT is officially Tobe For The World.
The Alief rapper came home Saturday to perform his biggest concert to date at White Oak Music Hall. Aside from luminaries and Tobe, Fat and Nell keeping the lawn filled with people and more thanks to the Tobe From The SWAT mixtape and their The Originals loosies, there was one more surprise in store for Nwigwe – a visit from the Mayor.
“I was gonna bring Tobe to City Hall and do this,” Mayor Turner said. “But since I decided there are 3,000 people that are out here … look, I’ve given some proclamations to people who did not come out of Houston. Who came from outside the state of Texas. But this is one guy that is local. This is a guy that comes out of Alief, this is a guy that deserves to be recognized by his own folk in his own city!”
How did Tobe celebrate the notion? He freestyled, of course. He joins a recent list of artists who’ve been honored by Mayor Turner including Travis Scott, Cardi B and Meek Mill.
