After six long years after it was originally announced, Lil Wayne has officially released Tha Carter V.
The long-awaited album arrived on Wayne’s birthday (September 27) just before midnight and features a bevy of talent including Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Wayne’s daughter Reginae, Nicki Minaj, Ashanti, Nivea and even a little Houston flavor with Sosamann and Travis Scott.

The road between Tha Carter IV and Tha Carter V has involved plenty of stops, starts, lawsuits and more. Wayne finally settled his lawsuit against Birdman and Cash Money Records for an undisclosed amount. Wayne’s attorney Ron Sweeney said in a statement, “I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next.”
Wayne then shared a public service announcement earlier this week that C5 would arrive on his 36th birthday. Between C4 and C5, Wayne has released a couple Dedication mixtapes, a second Sorry 4 The Wait mixtape, the Free Weezy Album on Independence Day 2015, Collegrove with 2 Chainz and more.
