Travis Scott hit No. 1 with Astroworld on Sunday officially selling 537,000 copies of his third album. Of that 537,000, 270,000 were in traditional sales.
Here’s all the ways the Mo. City native made Houston rap history.
- Scott became the first Houston rapper to ever have two No. 1 albums. The previous Houston solo rap artists to have the No. 1 album in the country in reverse order: Scott (Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight), Paul Wall (The People’s Champ) and Scarface (The Untouchable). UGK also has a No. 1 album but they’re the only group to ever have a No. 1 album (Underground Kingz).
- It’s the highest first-week sales for any Houston rapper — ever.
- He’s the first Houston rapper to have all three of his albums currently on the Billboard chart (Astroworld, No. 1; Birds, 76; Rodeo, 198)
Combine that with the Astroworld Festival news and you have to admit, he’s an A-list rapper at this point.
