This Day In Houston Rap: UGK Releases ‘Underground Kingz’

UGK‘s fifth effort, the first after Pimp C was released from prison dropped on this day in 2007. In short, thanks to “The Game Belongs To Me” and “International Players Anthem,” the record became the first in UGK’s career to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. Also, it eventually lead to a petition to make “International Players Anthem” the new national anthem. No, seriously.

RIP Pimp C!
