Derez De’shon fits right in with a long list of large, melodic rappers who managed to make their own version of the blues. “Hardaway,” the moody yet almost omnipresent single from last year began making real noise back in January and has become a mainstay amongst the faithful.
Atlanta’s already taken a liking to De’Shon, to the point where DJ Drama hosted his Pain mixtape last year. All of this happening after stints of being homeless and wanting to quit music following the death of fellow ATLien Slim Dunkin. Houston already has a penchant for appreciating melodic rappers, the kinds that still feel within reach even if they’re ascended to higher paths of stardom. Derez De’Shon more than likely is following that same road.
