RESTORE, REFRESH, AND RENEW!
Sisters, family, and friends of Tau Zeta Omega of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc gathered at Bay Colony Elementary School in Dickinson, Texas on Sunday, April 22, 2018 and dedicated a day of service to perform AKA 1908 Playground Project. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has implemented the AKA 1908 Playground Project to ensure children have a safe and inviting place to play. Members of the Sorority have a set goal to restore and renew 1,908 existing community and school playgrounds with its Restore, Refresh, and Renew Project.
Despite the rainy weather the day before it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day to come prepared to pull out the paint, put on some gloves, sweat out those edges and get to stroking all for one common goal of the Sorority. Within a few hours the playground area at Bay Colony Elementary school began to transform into a cleaner and polished looked.
About Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated:
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporate had its humble beginnings as the vision of nine college students on the campus of Howard University in 1908. Since then, the sorority has flourished into a globally-impactful organization of nearly 300,000 college-trained members, bound by the bonds of sisterhood and empowered by a commitment to servant-leadership that is both domestic and international in its scope.
As Alpha Kappa Alpha has grown, it has maintained its focus in two key arenas: the lifelong personal and professional development of each of its members; and galvanizing its membership into an organization of respected power and influence, consistently at the forefront of effective advocacy and social change that results in equality and equity for all citizens of the world.
