Tonight the season 19 premier of Big Brother airs and all 16 guests will be walking into a newly renovated house.
The Big Brother executive produces Rich Meehan and Allison Grodner give us the scoop about what the BB house will look like after some time during the season.
It’s no shocker that the house will eventually will be dirty with their a variety of different characters living together too…
“I’d say by Week 2 the house starts becoming very ‘lived-in,'” says Rich Meehan. “[The houseguests] get very comfortable very quickly and their clothes are piled on the floor, on their beds, on their dressers… There are times when we’ve walked into the house and quickly eaec. It’s pretty dirty and doesn’t smell the best.”
“It smells like feet, ” Allison Grodner said. “We have a discussion ahead of time about ‘production issues’ or ‘roommate issues’ and cleanliness is definitely a roommate issue., like if someone decides to be a complete slob and pile things up in he sink. We’ve had plenty of stories from people watching the show online about contestants coming out of the toilet and not washing their hands.”
Executive Producer Allison continues with telling a story about a contestant from Season 3 and how he was cooking and decided to use the restroom and not wash his hands afterwards, but he continued to cook. She said, “he was hand-tossing a salad. That was noticed by his fellow housemates and a huge fight ensued.”
“It’s a set, so it gets demolished then rebuilt,” Allison says. “Prior to the [new] houseguests entering, we go in with an industrial cleaning crew and make the filth from the past season gone. It’s like a construction site- it has to be vacuumed out and hosed down.”
She said that because the show is a two-story house that sits on CBS studio in Los Angeles.
The show last for a three-month period, end in September and they are recorded 24/7 and each person is playing the game to win the grand prize of $500,000.00.
