The Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz has introduced a new bill called Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order or aka the El Chapo Act as a way to pay for the border wall that President Donald Trump is pushing for.
The Senator believes that using any forfeited or seized money from “drug process and illicit profits” that were obtained from any drug lords that such as Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.
Currently, the government retrieving forfeiture money from El Chapo that is more than $14 billion.
Cruz is saying that this money would be easier on the tax payers.

Cruz said, “Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border. Ensuring the safety and security of Texans is one of my top priorities. We must also be mindful of the impact on the federal budget. By leveraging any criminally forfeited assets of El Chapo and his ilk, we can offset the wall’s cost and make meaningful progress toward achieving President Trump’s stated border security objectives.”
Yesterday, Cruz tweeted out, “The US government is seeking the criminal forfeiture of $14B+  in drug proceeds & illicit profits from El Chapo. http://bit.ly/2otlZ7B
