Three men were arrested on Sunday evening in connection with the shooting death of the young teen. Gay was shot in the neck during rounds of gunfire exchanged between two vehicles in the restaurant parking lot. Middlebrooks was reportedly in the parking lot of Cook Out just before 4 a.m. and shot multiple times. Witnesses reported gunfire was exchanged between two vehicles around the same time. The vehicles have been described as a gray Dodge Charger and a dark-colored sports car with tinted windows.

Although officers located one of the vehicles, they are still on the search for the second car involved, and are currently investigating.
