Ivan “J.P.” Cole was found dead in the Dallas area on Saturday morning.
The mixed-martial arts fighter was possibly playing the deadly game of “Russian roulette” when he lost.
His wife Kymberli Cole created a GoFundMe page writing on it, “Today June 11, 2016 I lost my Husband A day after our 2 year anniversary, they report He was playing Russian roulette And I still Haven’t gotten back an autopsy, My husband was my strength and guidance He was. A beloved husband father & son he made sure everyone has everything they needed I’m asking For you to help us Out financially He leaves behind a Four year old daughter And a wife, mother father sister and Brother Whom he loved dearly, He Was A talented man in many ways Please anything will help! Please help me buy my husband”
Originally, his wife had posted on that GoFundMe page that her husband’s death was lost to “gun play” and that “he made a bad decision that cost him his life.”

It’s possible that she changed the wording when the news hit and after his mom told the New York Daily News on Saturday, “Some say it was about money, someone said something about Russian roulette, but I don’t have any facts now… I’m a bit devastated at this time.”
Dallas’ CBS affiliate reported the Russian roulette story and their reporter J.D. Miles also stated that an eye witness claimed that Cole was indeed playing Russian roulette and he later tweeted out:

MMA fighter Ivan “J.P.” Cole dead. 25yo reportedly played Russian roulette with a gun and shot himself.

A fellow MMA fighter, Antwan Williams, doesn’t believe that Cole played Russian roulette that resulted in his death. Antwan said, “He’s such a great athlete in the cage or in the ring, just such a great athlete. You can’t even explain it, but when you see him outside of the ring or the age, he’s just so cool.”
Cole’s professional MMA career began in 2012, his last fight was in Belabor 135 in March 2015.
His last match was against George Pacurariu where Cole lost in the first round to a submission move.
The Dallas Police have issued a statement on their website regarding Cole’s death:
“The death of Mr. Cole will be classified as an unexpected death pending the results of the autopsy.”
