After Chipotle’s unfortunate E.coli outbreak that (according to Food Safety news), “The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted that 52 people became sick, 20 had to be hospitalized, but no reports of deaths… all out of six different states.
Because of the e.coli outbreak, Chipotle’s revenues dropped 23.4% to $834.5 million in their first quarter.
And because of their revenues drops, Chipotle has tried to accommodate and to lure their customers back in by offering free chips and guac.

Now, the company has decided to add some new items to their menu and this is a change that they originally had never wanted to do too, but it’s something to help build their company back up and to bring in the customers again.
They’ve decided to add a Chorizo/Chicken blended meat to your selection… that’s a spicy pork and chicken blend… and in case you’re curious, here are some of their other meats that are different then the usual meats; carnitas, barbacoa, sofritas.
For two decades the company has prided itself on how basic and simple their menu is and they even said on their 2014 annual report, “Chipotle restaurants serve only a few things: burritos, burrito bowls, tacos and salads.”
The company’s co-CEO, Steve Ells has said, “When we think about adding something to Chipotle, we are very, very mindful of our overall efficiencies in the kitchen, in cooking, in throughout and in ease of ordering for the customer.”
Who’s down for some new meat? Would you try anything new from Chipotle?
