Each year, more than 3,400 people drown in the U.S., including more than 700 children under the age of 14. According to the USA Swimming Foundation, 70 percent of African-Americans, 60 percent of Latinos and 40 percent of Caucasians have little to no swimming ability.
Phillips 66 and the USA Swimming Foundation want to educate parents, communities and civic leaders about the importance of learning to swim. Information will be provided on resources available to area residents, including information on free and low-cost swimming lessons.
Come meet Olympic gold medalists Cullen Jones and Rowdy Gaines as they reach out to the communities where Phillips 66 lives and works.
USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash Tour takes place on 5:00 p.m. – Friday, April 22nd at Tompkins High School pool (4400 Falcon Landing Blvd) in Katy, TX.
Watch the video “Race For Gold: Cullen Jones and the Make a Splash Initiative” as Cullen Jones shares stories about his work with the USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash Initiative.
