Rihanna and The Clara Lionel Foundation Host 2nd Annual Diamond Ball

Last night, Rihanna kicked off her Anti tour to a glowing review from Jacksonville.com’s Tom Szaroleta. Tom said the show was “filled with things you’re not likely to find anywhere else,” commending her performance for being “slick and heavily produced and choreographed down to the last move.”

“Make no mistake, Rihanna’s definitely the star of the show and doesn’t let the production come anywhere close to upstaging her. She ran through half a dozen or so costumes, ranging from hooded robes to thigh-high boots to an oversized suit and kept pace with her dancers for much of the show, all the time singing with a voice more powerful than you might expect if you’ve listened to her records.”

The tour started last night and is scheduled for seventy-one shows, with forty-one of them happening domestically. The list of countries is impressive, as the Bajan artist will also make stops in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the United Kingdom.

Tom, however, had less impressive things to say about Rihanna’s opening act, Travis Scott. He referred to Travis’ show as a “mess” and made mention of some spotlight issues. Tom felt the Travis’ performance was full of energy but he was playing to a “nearly bare stage.”

Such a positive review will undoubtedly be good news for the “navy.” Here’s to hoping that Travis has a better showing on his next go round.
