Trevor Jackson releases a thought-provoking visual for his In My Feelings cut “Like I Do.” Addressing the seriousness of gun violence in America, Trevor returns to his hometown of Marion, Indiana, which has been affected by destructive crime.

The Mike Ho-directed video is a tribute to Trevor’s cousin Mark Cotton, who was shot and killed just two weeks before Thanksgiving this year.

Between the Paris Attacks, mass shootings in San Bernardino and Colorado Springs, and everyday violence, the 19-year-old singer felt compelled to promote something positive.

In an interview with Billboard, Trevor explains, “I feel like we sometimes let our emotions and anger get in the way.

“Yeah, those [stories of shootings] upset me. Yeah, all those things I see make me angry. But I know everything that I do is going to be more powerful and touch more people in a positive way than if I go out there and cause havoc.”

Trevor can also be seen on the second season of the hit ABC drama American Crime, premiering January 6. He’ll star alongside Andre 3000, Felicity Huffman, and Regina King.

Trevor’s In My Feelings project is out right now. Watch the thought-provoking new video up top.
