Last night during WWE Raw’s opening of their show, they began with a moving tribute to the late Rowdy Roddy Piper.
Unfortunately, Roddy passed away on Thursday night in his Cali home, in his sleep at the age of 61.
Roddy was a legend, he was a one-time WWF Intercontinental Champion and three-time NWA/WCW United States Heavyweight Champ and the host of Piper’s Pit. All of his success in his career got Roddy inducted in 2005 into WWE’s Hall of Fame by Rick Flare.

During last night’s live show, WWE gave a moving tribute to Roddy with a traditional 10-bell salute which of course included the entire locker room showing their respect while playing a video of Roddy over the period of his career aired.
You can also see Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey in an interview after her Saturday night’s defeat.
She was expressing how honored she was that Roddy allowed her to use his name, “Rowdy” for her career too.
She said, “We found out last night on the way back from weigh-ins. I actually got a chance to sit down and talk to him for a couple of hours before this fight. I didn’t have time for anything and I was like ‘I have to go see Roddy, I have to go to Piper’s pit’ and we talked for hours.”
“I even told him, I promised him I’m going to do the name proud, I’m going to beat this chick. I told him that and I hope him and my dad had a good time watching it together.”
