55th Monte Carlo TV Festival : Day 2

Celebrities have been letting the Emmy nods sink in all day, and they’re taking to social media to express their thoughts and concerns. Taraji P. Henson, and Lee Daniels, for example, had some ideas about the nomination announcements. Henson, who was nominated for Best Actress for her work as Cookie in Empire. Speaking of Empire, other than Henson’s nomination, it seems like the show didn’t get as many nods as people may have previously thought or hoped for, but more on that in a minute.

Taraji tweeted her gratitude, but then she took to Instagram to thank her “#CookieMonsters,” stating:

empirefox#CookieMonsters, @tarajiphenson has a special Emmy message for you 🍪❤️💋 #EmpireEmmys #Empire

But then Lee Daniels posted a message that many people felt was shade toward the Emmy’s for the show not receiving many nods:

Anyway, congrats to Taraji P. Henson! If she wins, this will be the first time a Black actress has achieved the honor.
