An all too common complaint women have about “nude” underwear is its obvious failure as a one color fits all. It’s not just an issue for women of color, but can prove problematic for caucasian women.
However, popular UK lingerie line, Nubian Skin is aiming to fix this. Last fall, the company launched in order to provide more “nude” options that actually match one’s skin tone, and is coming to the U.S.
The line is currently being sold in Nordstrom stores and is also available for online purchase. Bras and panties come in four different hues (Berry, Café Au Lait, Caramel, and Cinnamon), and there is a color guide to help pick the right shade for you.
Founder of the line, Ade Hassan spoke with ELLE about their foray into the U.S. market. “The U.S. has been our strongest market since we launched. We received so much love from the women there, so we’re incredibly grateful. One of the most important things with lingerie is fit, so our hope is to be in enough stores that women of color all over the country can get fitted in their local store and pick up their perfect ‘nude.'”
Prices for pieces in the collection ranges from $16 to $60.
