Gregg Abbott becomes the 48th governor of Texas he stands ground in Austin during the swearing ceremony Tuesday.

A record attendance of 30,000 is expected today as Abbott and Dan Patrick are sworn in as governor and lieutenant governor.

The celebratory bar-b-que will commence at 12 p.m. and the parade starts at 2 p.m.

“The cost of the ceremony, including the balls and the parade, is estimated at about $4.5 million,” said WOAI

Governor Rick Perry departed Monday as he handed over the Bible to Abbott in the traditional way since 1925.
