The king of basketball met British royalty, Prince William and Kate Middleton, on Tuesday night and the encounter was less than perfect.
LeBron James didn’t get the memo as to what is appropriate when taking pictures with the Princess of Cambridge as he put his arm around her shoulder.
According to British protocol, when meeting with royalty you do not talk to them unless you are spoken to, and you most certainly do not touch them unless they reach out for a handshake first.
“Following the contest, LeBron James was kind enough to pose for a photo opportunity with Prince William and Kate, but he appeared to break a protocol that even the most ardent stateside royal admirers might still be unaware of,” said Yahoo! Sports.
Though it seemed as if Middleton did not mind the physical contact, British media had a laser eye on the photo shoot and immediately took the etiquette breach online.
