oprahTalk show diva and Academy Award-nominated riveting actress, Oprah Winfrey (pictured) has reportedly landed a juicy role in the upcoming much and talked about Lee Daniels-directed biopic about the iconic comedian, Richard Pryor (pictured below) according to TMZ.

pryorWinfrey, who returned to acting last year after a 15-year hiatus, co-starred in the film, “The Butler.”  Now the 60-year-old humanitarian gets to dig into a beefy role where will portray Pryor’s abusive, cruel and dictatorial grandmother, Marie Carter, who was a female pimp.

Carter ran a brothel in Peoria, Illinois and frequently beat the living daylight out of her grandson, who was abandoned at age 10 by his own mother, a known prostitute.

Pryor’s widow, Jennifer, who is also the producer of the film about her late husband, told TMZ that Winfrey was desperate to play the role of Carter because she reportedly wanted to expose a grittier side.

The controversial Pryor, best known for his razor-sharp off-color humor is recognized as one of the most idolized comedic geniuses of our time.  A fast-paced life that involved too many women and too many drugs resulted in long battles with poor health.

Pryor passed away at age 65 in 2005.

The biopic has long been in development even while Pryor was still alive and the comedian actually chose funny man Mike Epps (pictured right) to portray him back in 2005.  Pryor’s wish has been granted as it has been recently announced that Epps landed the much-coveted role of the late great comic.
