Hold the Phone! DJ Fanci here! Rumors have been circulating about a sequel for the last couple of years and I was beginning to lose hope. Well ladies and gents it is no longer a rumor, VH1 is moving forward with the not-so traditional sequel Drumline: A New Beat (tentative title).
This time around our beloved Nick Cannon, lead actor in the original Drumline in 2002, will return in a co-star role. The sequel focuses on an upper-class girl from Brooklyn, Dani, who’s strives to become first female section leader of the drumline at a college in Louisiana. Talk about Girl Power!
Vh1 is looking to capitalize on the success of VH1′s CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, which reached 4.5 million total viewers in October. Although Drumline is one of my favorite movies of all time, I doubt it will beat TLC but it should be close!
