Richie Incognito took to Twitter Tuesday afternoon after Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith learned his consequence for forcibly removing the Miami Dolphins offensive lineman’s helmet and swinging it at his face. Incognito chalks it all up to the nature of the game, speaking presumably about the incident which happened during the Texans’ second preseason game on Saturday, ESPN reports.
Smith will miss the one regular-season game and the remaining two preseason games for his behavior, according to a league source not identified by ESPN’s report. He will also be fined.
Incongito tweets:
Football is an intense game. Blood runs hot…. I’ve been there. Emotions run high. People lost their cool. Thank God no one got hurt
— Richie incognito (@68INCOGNITO) August 20, 2013
This is not the first time Smith has had a run-in with Incognito:
Smith was fined $21,000 last season for kicking Incognito, a penalty that was reduced to $11,000 after Smith appealed, saying he was retaliating to Incognito’s intentionally twisting his right ankle.
Our advice, Antonio: Let it go and get your head in the game! We have a Super Bowl to win!
