The Fourth of July is a traditional American holiday promising good barbecue, live music and, of course, fireworks.

Besides the nationwide celebration of freedom, Houstonians can look forward to big fireworks and low cost events all around the city.

Houston’s official Independence Day celebration, Freedom Over Texas, is a family friendly event at only $8 ticket. Children five and under are free. The festival is expected to feature country music headliners such Sheryl Crow and Martina McBride.  Festival goers will experience more than 30,000 square feet of entertainment for all ages including the Walmart All-American Kid Zone and the Family Fitness Challenge Area featuring sports teams including the Aeros, Astros, Dynamo, Rockets and Texans. The older crowd can enjoy the The Bud Light Zone which will showcase the All American Beer Garden. A firework display will conclude the evening. The festival will be held from 4 – 10pm at Eleanor Tinsley Park, Sam Houston Park, and along Allen Parkway.
