It’s always places like San Francisco, New York and Paris that get recognition for having the best and most sophisticated dining. Now you can add two Houston restaurants to the list.

Condé Naste Traveler ranks Oxheart (1302 Nance) and Underbelly (1100 Westheimer) as two of the best new spots to eat.

It’s not the first time these two have been rated as gastronomic gems. Esquire and Bon Appetit featured both restaurants. The chefs at both spots were up for their own awards as well.

So what makes these restaurants so good?

Traveler calls Oxheart “an homage to the hearty enjoyment of fruits and vegetables.” The chefs cook on a kitchen island and put on a show for the crowd.

Traveler praises Underbelly chef Chris Sheppard for using the city’s diversity to create a totally unique menu.

The bottom line is you don’t need to travel across the world to find some of the best cuisine. You can find it right here in Houston.
