After many motions and counter-motions, the trial of Trayvon Martin’s killer George Zimmerman got under way yesterday in Florida.

It’s important to note, too, the following: the question to be answered in this trial is not whether George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin or not — in fact, there is no doubt that he did. What this trial will attempt to answer is the question of whether Zimmerman killed Martin in self-defense (as the defense is claiming), or in cold blood (as the prosecution is arguing). According to Fox News Latino, however, Zimmerman’s lawyer is claiming that he “doubts” his client will be able to get a fair trial. For the past year, Zimmerman has been free on $1 million bond and living in seclusion.
