Failing to leave a tip has landed two Pennsylvania college students in some hot water. The “Express-Times” reports that Leslie Pope and John Wagner were arrested last month when they refused to leave a mandatory 18-percent gratuity. Pope and Wagner were part of an eight-person party that ran up a 73-dollar bill during happy hour on October 23rd. The group refused to pay their 16-dollar required tip, however, because they felt the service they received was unacceptable. Leslie Pope remarks, quote, “Gratuity is thanking you for your service. You can’t give us terrible, terrible service and expect a tip.” Pope and Wagner were taken from the restaurant by Bethlehem police and are currently awaiting a summary trial in the case.
