HOUSTON – Texas Southern University’s marching band has been suspended as part of an investigation into a report of hazing incident, the school announced.

“Excessive paddling” by members of the trumpet section has been reported, according to university officials.

A student reported the hazing activity earlier this week, leading TSU officials to immediately convene to address the matter, the school said.

Reports say a vice president for student services, student compliance officers, human resources director, director of bands, general counsel, TSU law enforcement officials, and TSU’s communications associate vice president are all involved in the investigation.

News 92 FM will have more on this story as it continues to develop.
