Milli Vanilli Biopic Moves Forward

A film documenting the fast upstart and sporadic downfall of the fraudulent singing duo Milli Vanilli has been in the works since 2007.

Finally, German Oscar-winner Florian Gallenberger has signed on to write and direct the movie about the story of Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan.

The pop duo was awarded a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1990, and their dance hits “Blame It On The Rain” and “Girl You Know It’s True” topped the charts.

Four days after winning the Grammy, it was discovered that German record producer Frank Farian placed Pilatus and Morvan as the frontmen for a group that already had songs recorded, and they weren’t the actual singers on the records.

Their awards were revoked and their attempts to release music with their own voices failed miserably.

Rob Pilatus died years later of what was believed to be a drug overdose and the two dancers went down in infamy as the poster boys for lip-synching. The film should be interesting.
