A bizarre recommendation has landed one Italian food writer in hot water. According to “The Times,” Beppe Bigazzi was suspended by broadcaster RAI for suggesting a recipe for cat stew on La Prova del Cuoco. The 77-year-old told viewers, quote, “I’ve eaten it myself and it’s a lot better than many other animals. Better than chicken, rabbit or pigeon.” Several people called in to complain about Bigazzi’s recommendation, prompting the suspension. Bigazzi has since issued an apology, but adds, quote, “I wasn’t joking all that much. In the 1930s and 1940s, when I was a boy, people certainly did eat cat in the countryside around Arezzo.”
