My love story begins in December 2004, when I met the man of my dreams. Soon after we fell in love, he proposed to me in such a special way that I (and much of Houston) will never forget. I began as a Houston Texans Cheerleader in 2005, and when tryouts came around for my second year, my boyfriend (now husband) came up with a wonderful way to ask me to be his wife. He contacted the Texans Cheerleader coach to ask permission to propose to me immediately after tryouts were complete and the new team was announced. As she agreed to look into it, she reminded him that there was no guarantee that I would make the team again, to which he replied, “That’s no problem. My wanting to marry her isn’t contingent upon her making the team.” How I love that man! Anyway, the powers-that-be at the Texans organization agreed.

When the team was announced on April 18, 2006, I was thrilled to be a part of the organization for another year. Much to my surprise, as we are being introduced to the media, my coach asked me to step forward. She then went into a speech about what an asset I have been to the team and how thrilled she is to be able to share in this moment with me, and out walks the love of my life, looking quite dapper in a three-piece suit, carrying a dozen red roses as “Love” by Musiq Soulchild plays in the background. Needless to say, I said yes!! We were married on March 2, 2007 in Antigua, and are expecting our first child in August. I am proof positive that fairy tales do come true!
