(Undated)  —  There’s a new man atop the Official World Golf Rankings.  Englishman Lee Westwood has ended Tiger Woods’ 281-week reign that began the week before the 2005 U.S. Open.  Westwood becomes the first European golfer to be ranked number one since Nick Faldo stood on top in 1994.  Woods was winless this year for the first time in his professional career, capping a tumultuous period that began with a bizarre traffic accident last Thanksgiving.  Subsequent media coverage of Woods’ various infidelities led to a split with wife Elin Nordegren.  The couple’s divorce became final in August.
