A drug cartel in Mexico opened fire on a small police department in Los Ramones and as a result, all of the officers quit.

According to published reports the 14 police officers police force in Los Ramones, a rural town in northern Mexico, fled in terror after gunmen fired more than 1,000 bullets and flung six grenades at their headquarters October 25.

The gunmen’s 20-minute shooting spree destroyed six police vehicles and left the white and orange police station pocked with bullet holes

Although no one was hurt during the ambush, all 14 of the town’s officers resigned in fear of their life and families’ safety leaving the citizens of the small town without a police force.

The Los Ramones attack was the second on police  in less than a week. Police forces in Nuevo Leon were attacked after thugs threw two grenades at police in Sabinas Hidalgo.

According to the Finanical Times, about 90% of forces have less than 100 officers, and 61% of cops earn less than $322 a month, leaving Mexico with an increase in violence and a death toll of almost 30,000 since 2006.
