It’s not something that they’re proud of, but in Minnesota and in Oklahoma, two different states, a prank caller called the stores up and told them they were in danger.
In Coon Rapids, Minnesota at their BK, a caller called pretending that they were a firefighter and that they were calling to warn them that there was a gas leak in the restaurant and that they needed to take action.

The prankster told the employees that they had to smash all the windows or the gas could build-up and explode. The solution was to air out the gas from the restaurant… unfortunately, it wasn’t a real fire fighter, it was a hoax.
In Shawnee, Oklahoma, another prankster called the Burger King and pretended to be a fire fighter.
The caller for Okla. told the employees that the store was filled with carbon monoxide had filled their building and they needed to take action.
The fire fighter Thomas Larman told the news, “It is a little upsetting that they would try to give the fire department a black eye. We would never do anything like that. We’re here to serve the public, protect the public. We would never tell you to destroy your property.”
Larman also told KFOR-TV what the Okla. employees said, he says, “The employee stated that a person called them and told them there were high levels of carbon monoxide in their building, and they needed to break out all their windows.”
